Introduction

This exciting and innovative degree programme teaches acupuncture in a contemporary framework and fully encompasses the concept of 'holism'. The course provides a comprehensive education and training in the principals and practice of acupuncture, the traditional way of understanding of the nature of illness, and the disciplines of anatomy, physiology, pathology, diagnosis and psychology. It is integrative in approach, linking traditional Chinese medicine with modern science and holism.

Our teaching methods cover a mixture of theoretical study, reflection, and practical experience. The course is delivered by standard term time teaching in both the classroom and clinical setting, in combination with online seminars and occasional weekend study days. Our aim is to ensure that you become a competent and confident healthcare practitioner in acupuncture. Therapies such as Cupping, Moxibustion, Chinese massage, electric and ear acupuncture are all integrated parts of the course, and graduates are eligible to practice them.

The course is accredited by BAAB on behalf of British Acupuncture Council (BAcC), and graduates are eligible to join BAcC without entrance assessment within 2 years of graduation

Entry Requirements
A minimum of 72 UCAS Tariff points from the following: GCE A levels and AS Levels BTEC National (Diploma or Extended Diploma) in a relevant subject Access to HE Scottish Higher/Advanced Higher with at least one subject at Advanced Higher T Levels. For mature applicants some experience may be taken in lieu of A Levels / BTECs. Plus: GCSE English - Grade C/4 or above GCSE Maths - Grade C/4 or above EU and International applicants: NARIC confirmed equivalent of 72 UCAS Tariff points IELTS with an overall score of 6.0 and a minimum of 5.5 in each component Equivalent English language qualifications may be acceptable for applicants requiring a visa

The successful completion of BSc (Hons) Acupuncture will provide you with the qualifications to set up in professional practice as a professional acupuncture practitioner.

There are also broader employment opportunities in the health and fitness industry and opportunities to progress to postgraduate study.

Fees
Per Academic Year Home Students - £7999.99 International Students - £9500.00 Tuition fees will remain unchanged for the duration of a student's continuous enrolment. Additional Course Costs Uniform - approx. £35 (compulsory); DBS check - £47.80 (compulsory); Basic first aid course - approx. £60 (compulsory); Towel approx. £5 (compulsory) Additional compulsory course costs will be paid for using the Career Degree Bursary. The scheme allows students to access the remainder of the bursary (up to a maximum value of £500 / £250) for additional optional courses, workshops, professional memberships and resources. There is no cash alternative. Students who wish to access opportunities in excess of the Career Degree Bursary may do so at full cost to themselves. Study Details
You will study on the Lincoln College Campus for the full duration of the course, completing professional practice in our on-site Complementary Medicine Clinic. FULL TIME 3 Years - 2 - 2.5 days per week Course contact hours are typically comprised of: 8 hrs Theory sessions per week (reduced to 4 hours in year 3) 3 hrs Practical / Seminar sessions per week (increased to 9 hours in year 3) It is expected that students complete between 4 and 10 hrs of additional independent study per week in order to be successful on this programme. Whilst the sessions delivered at College will typically fall between Monday and Friday from 9am - 5pm, it is expected that students will complete the online study, in addition to the independent study, outside of these times. Students should also make themselves available to complete work experience hours outside of these times.
