Will I have to pay fees?

Support For Students Aged 19+

Lincoln College Fee Remission Policy offers means tested and non-means tested help with course fees for qualifications up to and including Level 2 and for some students aged 19+ studying a first Full Level 3

We also offer the Advanced Learner Loan, which is non-means tested help with course fees for Level 3, 4, 5 and 6 Further Education funded courses. Our Learner Support Fund offers means tested help with course related costs such as travel to college, uniform, equipment, UCAS application fee and travel to Higher Education interviews. We offer help with the cost of Ofsted registered childcare through the Care To Learn scheme for students aged under 20 (non means tested) and our 20+ Childcare Support Fund (means tested). We can also provide assistance through the Free College Meals scheme. Students, or their parents, must be in receipt of a qualifying means tested benefit and either aged 19 to 24 and have a current Education and Health Care Plan, or be aged 19 and continuing exactly the same programme that they started before they turned 19. Introduction
Introduction This PCDL funded course is open to adults who wish to learn woodworking and furniture making skills. You can be a novice with no experience or someone who wishes to produce more advanced work or learn new skills. The course is personal to the student. Learners are expected to practice techniques related to furniture making. Some learners may be inducted on machinery and portable power tools as appropriate, and are expected to use them to support the production process. It is recommended that new learners undergo a range of jointing techniques to acquaint themselves with both tools and techniques before moving onto actual items. Our learners over the years have produced items from boxes to sets of chairs so the range and potential is immense and we will provide the support and techniques to help you achieve your goals. It is often a good idea to have a basic plan of what you would like to achieve within the 10 weeks be that a specific item or a range of techniques to allow consultation with your tutor to ensure it is realistic. New learners are often assessed on their skill level starting point during the first week which would help determine the next stage. The course runs in 10 week blocks three times during the academic year at Newark College. Learners can undertake a single block or all three and may start a block at any of the three periods shown below. It runs on a Wednesday evening from 6.00pm-8.30pm. 2021-2022 Provisional Dates TBC 29th September to 8th December - first 10 week course. 12th January to 23th March - second 10 weeks block. 20th April to 29th June - last 10 week block. New applicants will be invited to a welcome day to discuss the course and see the facilities or may do so directly with the course tutor. Please state on application which 10 week block you are applying for as shown above. All learners are required to wear PPE and must provide their own safety shoes and eye protection.
