Support For Students Aged 19+
Lincoln College Fee Remission Policy offers means tested and non-means tested help with course fees for qualifications up to and including Level 2 and for some students aged 19+ studying a first Full Level 3
We also offer the Advanced Learner Loan, which is non-means tested help with course fees for Level 3, 4, 5 and 6 Further Education funded courses. Our Learner Support Fund offers means tested help with course related costs such as travel to college, uniform, equipment, UCAS application fee and travel to Higher Education interviews. We offer help with the cost of Ofsted registered childcare through the Care To Learn scheme for students aged under 20 (non means tested) and our 20+ Childcare Support Fund (means tested). We can also provide assistance through the Free College Meals scheme. Students, or their parents, must be in receipt of a qualifying means tested benefit and either aged 19 to 24 and have a current Education and Health Care Plan, or be aged 19 and continuing exactly the same programme that they started before they turned 19. Introduction
Are you interested in working in the entertainment industry? Want a job where
creativity is key? Maybe you love theatre but being on stage isn’t for you.
Technical Theatre and Production Arts could be the perfect route choice.
The world of Technical Theatre and Production Arts provides a huge range of
opportunities for those interested in a creative and challenging career. Live
events, theatre and entertainment industries are major UK employers, with a huge
potential for overseas work.
Based at the newly redesigned Drill Hall, Lincoln, you will have the
opportunity to work in a professional venue, gain vital experience and skills
from the highly experienced staff, and see a huge variety of professional
touring shows.
We have an excellent track record of students who have careers in the arts
and entertainment industry.
During this course, you’ll learn:
- Lighting and Set design
- Sound and lighting engineering
- Prop making and Costume
- Special effects make-up and prosthetics
- Event management
- Front of house/ Box office management
- Theatre making and crafts

Entry Requirements
You’ll need four GCSEs including English Language and Maths at a minimum
grade four. Applicants will need to show a creative portfolio of evidence of
previous creative and or technical theatre-related work. You can use a variety
of evidence from subjects including Art and Design, Media, photography, DT and
Performing Arts to make your application. Your portfolio will be needed at your
'Welcome Day,' where you will meet your tutors and experience a taste of life
with us. We’ll also interview you to find out your potential and motivation to
study here.

Assessment and Progression
Assessment: There is no exam. Coursework is all internally assessed through a
combination of interim and formal assessments at the end of each project. The
final project is graded pass, merit or distinction. The qualification is
equivalent to achieving Three A levels.
Progression: Training in Technical Theatre and Production Arts prepares you
for backstage and design work in theatre, with extensive transferable skills for
the live events industry. You’ll be able to collaborate with teams of designers,
makers, performers, technicians, engineers and artists.

Fees
Fees listed are for those aged 19 years and over only. Fees are subject to
change. Support for fees may be available, such as fee remission or the Advanced
Learner Loan.
