Do you love acting, dancing or performing for an audience? Is singing your thing? Maybe you want to avoid the limelight but still work in performing arts. In any case, this course could be for you.

This course will provide you with practical skills, understanding, and knowledge of careers in the theatre industry. You’ll also learn to be organized and gain the confidence to perform in front of an audience.

There will be many chances to perform at venues outside of college and to gain work experience as part of your course. You will meet and work with professionals from the industry and see live professional shows and events.

During the course, you’ll:

  • Explore the different types of jobs available
  • Practice your rehearsal skills
  • Take part in plays, musical pieces, songs, and dance
  • Help 'front of house' and backstage

Entry Requirements

You’ll need Three GCSEs, preferably including Maths and English at a minimum grade Three. Performing Arts applicants are asked to perform a contemporary or classical monologue, and/or a song (each approximately 2 minutes long). Your audition will take place during your 'Welcome Day'. Applicants also need to email a short, written statement that tells us about your interest in Performing Arts, your interest in our course, and the reasons for choosing your audition material.

Assessment and Progression

Assessment: There is no exam. Coursework is all internally assessed through a combination of interim and formal assessments at the end of each project. You will organize your research and reflections into a portfolio for submission. The final project is graded pass, merit or distinction.
