Will I have to pay fees?

Support For Students Aged 19+

Lincoln College Fee Remission Policy offers means tested and non-means tested help with course fees for qualifications up to and including Level 2 and for some students aged 19+ studying a first Full Level 3

We also offer the Advanced Learner Loan, which is non-means tested help with course fees for Level 3, 4, 5 and 6 Further Education funded courses. Our Learner Support Fund offers means tested help with course related costs such as travel to college, uniform, equipment, UCAS application fee and travel to Higher Education interviews. We offer help with the cost of Ofsted registered childcare through the Care To Learn scheme for students aged under 20 (non means tested) and our 20+ Childcare Support Fund (means tested). We can also provide assistance through the Free College Meals scheme. Students, or their parents, must be in receipt of a qualifying means tested benefit and either aged 19 to 24 and have a current Education and Health Care Plan, or be aged 19 and continuing exactly the same programme that they started before they turned 19. Introduction

Do you have a natural artistic flair? Do you love working with different materials to create amazing designs? Maybe you’re thinking of a career in the creative arts. In that case, this course is perfect for you.

>This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge to investigate all forms of art and design. You’ll learn how to use practical skills and techniques to visualise and develop ideas through a series of projects that explore 2D and 3D ways of working. There will also be gallery visits and trips.

You will meet professional artists and designers and undertake work experience in the Creative Industries as part of your course with the opportunity to develop an online presence to promote your work globally.

Based at Lincoln College of Art and Design at Christ's Hospital Terrace (in the Cathedral Quarter) which has excellent facilities including a print room, 3D workshops (ceramics, glass, plaster, wood and metals), a dark room, five MAC suites, fashion workshop, photography and media studios and light and airy art.

Working with specialist tutors you can explore a wide range of subjects such as:

  • Drawing

  • Illustration
  • Printmaking
  • Photography
  • Photoshop
  • Fashion design
  • 3D design
  • Textiles
  • Ceramics
  • Research and contextual studies develop understanding of contemporary and historical developments in art and design


    • Entry Requirements

      You’ll need four GCSEs preferably including Maths, English and an Art or Design subject (minimum grade four), or a merit grade in a Level Two Diploma in Art and Design. Expressive Arts is not considered.

      You will be asked to attend an interview, where you will need to show your art and design ability in a portfolio of artwork. You’ll also need to provide a reference (from an employer or recent school/college report).



      Assessment and Progression

      Assessment: There is no exam. Coursework is all internally assessed through a combination of interim and formal assessments at the end of each project. The final project is graded pass, merit or distinction. The qualification is equivalent to achieving three A levels.

      Progression: This qualification allows you to build a portfolio of work that prepares you well for progression onto an Art Foundation Diploma or an HE course. Certification is awarded by the prestigious UAL Awarding Body, widely regarded as the best university for the Creative Arts in Europe.

      Fees listed are for those aged 19 years and over only. Fees are subject to change. Support for fees may be available, such as fee remission or the Advanced Learner Loan.

      What You Will Need To Bring

      You’ll need equipment such as Graphite pencils, a black Edding 55 pen, A4 hardback sketchbook, A3 hardback sketchbook, eraser; craft knife, masking tape, synthetic brushes, a set of system acrylics, a memory stick, Pritt stick, scissors and an A1 folder. Other materials may be required to do the course. These will be supplied by the college and you will be required to pay a fee to use these within the studio.
