Support For Students Aged 19+
Lincoln College Fee Remission Policy offers means tested and non-means tested help with course fees for qualifications up to and including Level 2 and for some students aged 19+ studying a first Full Level 3
We also offer the Advanced Learner Loan, which is non-means tested help with course fees for Level 3, 4, 5 and 6 Further Education funded courses. Our Learner Support Fund offers means tested help with course related costs such as travel to college, uniform, equipment, UCAS application fee and travel to Higher Education interviews. We offer help with the cost of Ofsted registered childcare through the Care To Learn scheme for students aged under 20 (non means tested) and our 20+ Childcare Support Fund (means tested). We can also provide assistance through the Free College Meals scheme. Students, or their parents, must be in receipt of a qualifying means tested benefit and either aged 19 to 24 and have a current Education and Health Care Plan, or be aged 19 and continuing exactly the same programme that they started before they turned 19. Introduction
Do you have a great sense of style? Do your friends and family look to you
for the latest trends and advice? Fancy working in the Fashion Industry? This
course will be your perfect fit.
You’ll begin by learning the basic skills needed to develop your creativity
within Fashion Design and be encouraged to develop a personal style through
research and product development. The conclusion of these skills will finish
with a self-directed project where you will design and manufacture a small
collection of garments that will reflect your interests.
During the course, you will be involved in enrichment workshops and
encouraged to blog and create an online presence, as well as seek out work
experience opportunities. This qualification is awarded by the prestigious UAL
Awarding Body, widely regarded as the best university for the Creative Arts in
Europe.
You’ll be based at Lincoln College of Art and Design at Christ's Hospital
Terrace (in the Cathedral Quarter) which has excellent facilities including a
print room, 3D workshops (ceramics, glass, plaster, wood and metals), a dark
room, five MAC suites, fashion workshop, photography and media studios and light
and airy art .

Entry Requirements
You’ll need four GCSEs preferably including Maths, English and an Art of
Design subject (minimum grade four), or a merit grade in a Level Two Diploma in
Art and Design. Expressive Arts are not considered.
You will be asked to attend an interview, where you will need to show your
art and design ability in a portfolio of artwork. You’re also required to
provide a reference (from an employer or recent school/college
report).

Assessment and Progression
Assessment: There is no exam. Coursework is all internally assessed through a
combination of interim and formal assessments at the end of each project. The
final project is graded pass, merit or distinction. The qualification is
equivalent to achieving Three A levels.
Progression: The course has been structured to equip you with a range of
experiences suitable for progression into a variety of paths within the realm of
Fashion. You will gain the experience and qualifications necessary to build a
strong portfolio for acceptance on to Higher Education courses

Salaries range from £19,414 for Tailors and Dressmakers to £30,686 for
Designers

What You Will Need To Bring
You’ll need equipment such as Graphite pencils, a black Edding 55 pen, A4
hardback sketchbook; A3 hardback sketchbook; eraser, craft knife, masking tape,
synthetic brushes, a set of system acrylics, a memory stick, Pritt stick and an
A1 folder. In addition, you’ll need the following Fashion kit; a stitch
unpicker, fabric shears, paper shears, embroidery scissors, a tape measure, a
box of pins and hand-sewing needles. Other materials may be required to do the
course. These will be supplied by the college and you will be required to pay a
fee to use these within the studio
