Will I have to pay fees?

Support For Students Aged 19+

Lincoln College Fee Remission Policy offers means tested and non-means tested help with course fees for qualifications up to and including Level 2 and for some students aged 19+ studying a first Full Level 3

We also offer the Advanced Learner Loan, which is non-means tested help with course fees for Level 3, 4, 5 and 6 Further Education funded courses. Our Learner Support Fund offers means tested help with course related costs such as travel to college, uniform, equipment, UCAS application fee and travel to Higher Education interviews. We offer help with the cost of Ofsted registered childcare through the Care To Learn scheme for students aged under 20 (non means tested) and our 20+ Childcare Support Fund (means tested). We can also provide assistance through the Free College Meals scheme. Students, or their parents, must be in receipt of a qualifying means tested benefit and either aged 19 to 24 and have a current Education and Health Care Plan, or be aged 19 and continuing exactly the same programme that they started before they turned 19. Introduction

Do you ever see special effects make-up on TV and would love to be able to do that? Do you want to work in the film or TV industry but have a possession for hair and make-up? This course is the perfect starting point for your dream job.

If you have a creative flair and would like to style models for photo shoots or perhaps work as a make-up artist for film or TV, this qualification is an ideal way to build your skills. You will get creative with both hair and make-up. Our reputation is synonymous within the industry for its high level of competition work.

Throughout the academic year, you’re entered into regional and national competitions having an outstanding success rate due to the dedication of the tutors.

During this course, you’ll learn:

Working with Colleagues Within the Beauty Related Industries Monitor and Maintain Health and Safety Practices in the Salon Creative Hairdressing Design Skills Design and Apply Face and Body Art Fashion and Photographic Make-Up Applying Airbrush Make-Up to the Face Media Make-Up Applying Prosthetic Pieces and Bald Caps Style and Dress Hair Using a Variety of Techniques Applying Individual Permanent Lashes Camouflage Make-Up.


Entry Requirements

You’ll need four GCSEs including English and Science (minimum Grade four/C or equivalent). You must also hold a Level Two Diploma in Beauty Therapy, or have equivalent practical experience. Suitable references are required and a portfolio of past work is an advantage.

Those progressing from Level Two Beauty Therapy or Hairdressing may be accepted if they have achieved GCSE Maths and English and have a satisfactory reference from their existing Personal Tutor.



Assessment and Progression

Assessment: Assessment is a combination of theory and practical assessments with online tests throughout the year.

Progression: On successful completion of the course, you could progress into Higher Education such as a Degree in Media Make-Up or you may find employment. Careers.

What You Will Need To Bring

You’ll need workwear and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and kit from our preferred supplier which will include your course textbook. You will need general stationery equipment and access to the internet; PCs are available on campus.
