Will I have to pay fees?

Support For Students Aged 19+

Lincoln College Fee Remission Policy offers means tested and non-means tested help with course fees for qualifications up to and including Level 2 and for some students aged 19+ studying a first Full Level 3

We also offer the Advanced Learner Loan, which is non-means tested help with course fees for Level 3, 4, 5 and 6 Further Education funded courses. Our Learner Support Fund offers means tested help with course related costs such as travel to college, uniform, equipment, UCAS application fee and travel to Higher Education interviews. We offer help with the cost of Ofsted registered childcare through the Care To Learn scheme for students aged under 20 (non means tested) and our 20+ Childcare Support Fund (means tested). We can also provide assistance through the Free College Meals scheme. Students, or their parents, must be in receipt of a qualifying means tested benefit and either aged 19 to 24 and have a current Education and Health Care Plan, or be aged 19 and continuing exactly the same programme that they started before they turned 19. Introduction

Do you love styling hair and finding new ways to wear it? Do friends and family always comment on how good you are with hair? Are you confident and enjoy talking to all kinds of people? If the answer is yes, this course is perfect for you.

This course will give you a clear understanding of Hairdressing services. You’ll explore and carry out the latest techniques and trends in styling, cutting and colouring within our fully equipped salons. In addition to this, you will have the chance to attend training with manufacturers, showcase your skills in local and national competitions and work with a number of paying clients.

During the course, you’ll learn:

  • Following Health and Safety
  • Client Consultation for Hair Services
  • Shampoo and Conditioning the Hair and Scalp
  • Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work
  • Cutting Women’s Hair
  • Colouring and Lightening Hair
  • Style and Finish hair
  • Set and dress hair
  • Plait and twist hair
  • Salon Reception Duties


  • Entry Requirements

    You’ll need three GCSEs Grade four in English Language or Maths and two further GCSEs at grade four or above. Those progressing from Level One Beauty Therapy or Hairdressing may be accepted if they have achieved GCSE Maths and/or English, 85% attendance or above/ a satisfactory reference from their existing Personal Tutor.

    You will be required to have personal hairdressing tools and a specific salon uniform. (Lee Stafford College t-shirt/ Black bottoms and black based closed-toe shoes), More details of these are provided during the interview process. The estimated cost of these at present will be approximately £170.00.



    Assessment and Progression

    Assessment: You will be continually assessed through practical work on clients and online knowledge based exams.

    Progression: On completion of this programme, students may progress into employment as a hairstylist, go on to an apprenticeship programme or progress onto the Level 3 study programme.

    What You Will Need To Bring

    You’ll need workwear and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and kit from our preferred supplier - which will include your course textbook. You will need general stationery equipment, two A4 folders and access to the internet; PCs are available on campus.
