Will I have to pay fees?
Support For Students Aged 19+
Lincoln College Fee Remission Policy offers means tested and non-means tested help with course fees for qualifications up to and including Level 2 and for some students aged 19+ studying a first Full Level 3
We also offer the Advanced Learner Loan, which is non-means tested help with course fees for Level 3, 4, 5 and 6 Further Education funded courses. Our Learner Support Fund offers means tested help with course related costs such as travel to college, uniform, equipment, UCAS application fee and travel to Higher Education interviews. We offer help with the cost of Ofsted registered childcare through the Care To Learn scheme for students aged under 20 (non means tested) and our 20+ Childcare Support Fund (means tested). We can also provide assistance through the Free College Meals scheme. Students, or their parents, must be in receipt of a qualifying means tested benefit and either aged 19 to 24 and have a current Education and Health Care Plan, or be aged 19 and continuing exactly the same programme that they started before they turned 19. Introduction
Are you quite handy around the house? Do you thrive doing practical tasks?
Fancy a job in the construction industry? This bricklaying course will give you
the skills and know-how to progress into construction work.
Bricklaying is a course that will give you the underpinning skills and
knowledge to progress through the levels of brick and block laying whilst
exploring theoretically and practically the following topics at an appropriate
level to begin.
This course will also offer you support, preparing you for the construction
industry.
During the course, you’ll learn:
Principles of Building Construction
Information and Communication
Contribution to Setting Out and Building of Masonry Structures up to Damp
Proof Course
Carrying out Block-laying Activities
Carrying out Bricklaying Activities
Carrying out Cavity Wall Activities
Health, Safety and Welfare in Construction

Entry Requirements
You’ll need GCSEs in Mathematics and English (preferably a minimum Grade Two
or equivalent). You will also need to attend a Welcome Day event (which includes
an interview) and provide a reference (from an employer or recent school/college
report).

Assessment and Progression
Assessment: Assessment is a combination of practical tasks and paper-based
assessments.
Progression: Progression Successful completion of the Level One Certificate
could lead to the Level Two Diploma in Brickwork.

Fees
Fees listed are for those aged 19 years and over only. Fees are subject to
change. Support for fees may be available, such as fee remission or the Advanced
Learner Loan.

What You Will Need To Bring
You’ll need workwear and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) from our
preferred supplier; and a copy of the course textbook: ‘Level One Diploma in
Bricklaying’ ISBN-: 978-0851932668. You’ll also need general stationery
equipment and access to the internet; PCs are available on
campus.
