Support For Students Aged 19+
Lincoln College Fee Remission Policy offers means tested and non-means tested help with course fees for qualifications up to and including Level 2 and for some students aged 19+ studying a first Full Level 3
We also offer the Advanced Learner Loan, which is non-means tested help with course fees for Level 3, 4, 5 and 6 Further Education funded courses. Our Learner Support Fund offers means tested help with course related costs such as travel to college, uniform, equipment, UCAS application fee and travel to Higher Education interviews. We offer help with the cost of Ofsted registered childcare through the Care To Learn scheme for students aged under 20 (non means tested) and our 20+ Childcare Support Fund (means tested). We can also provide assistance through the Free College Meals scheme. Students, or their parents, must be in receipt of a qualifying means tested benefit and either aged 19 to 24 and have a current Education and Health Care Plan, or be aged 19 and continuing exactly the same programme that they started before they turned 19. More information about this Course
Introduction
Do you have an artistic side? Do you want to do something more practical with
your painting skills? Do you want to be a qualified Painter and Decorator and
offer a great quality service? If so, this course is for you.
This course includes practical and theoretical elements of Painting &
Decorating, providing you with the underpinning skills and knowledge to progress
with topics at an appropriate level to begin. This course will also offer you
support, preparing you for the construction industry.
Our expectations of you are high and attention to detail is really
important.
During the course, you’ll learn:
Principles of Building Construction
Information and Communication
Erecting and Dismantling Access Equipment and Working Platforms
Preparing Surfaces for Decoration
Applying Paint Systems by Brush and Roller to Non-Complex Areas
Applying Foundation and Plain Paper
Producing Specialist Decorative Finishes
Health, Safety and Welfare in Construction

Entry Requirements
You’ll need GCSEs in Maths and English (minimum Grade E or equivalent).
You’ll also be required to pass a trade test as well as a literacy and numeracy
test. You’ll be asked to attend an interview and provide a reference (from an
employer or recent school/college report).

Assessment and Progression
Assessment: Assessment is a combination of practical tests and written
exams.
Progression: Successful completion of the Level One Certificate could lead to
a Level Two Diploma or Employment.

Fees
Fees listed are for those aged 19 years and over only. Fees are subject to
change. Support for fees may be available, such as fee remission or the Advanced
Learner Loan.
