More information about this Course

Introduction

Have you got a natural musical talent? Do you want to pursue a career as a musician, sound engineer, or producer? This course is an excellent place to start.

The two-year UAL Level Three course in music will provide you with the skills and knowledge to progress into higher education or the music business. This course is designed to suit a wide range of musicians from drummers and guitarists to vocalists and brass players. You will be based in our own dedicated performance space which has a 180-seater theatre, dressing rooms, dance studios, rehearsal rooms, recording studio, MAC suite, and technical theatre workshop.

The emphasis in Year One is focused on building your skills as a musician and developing your confidence for live performances. You will be introduced to music technology and be able to create and edit tracks. You’ll also look at musical styles and explore well-known songs as well as having the chance to write your own material. You will perform as a band and as a solo artist if you wish.

Year Two is designed to build on these skills and techniques to enable you to create your own recording projects, set up a label, perform gigs at a variety of venues, and prepare music for publication. You will meet a variety of industry professionals and have support to plan your career.

The Lincoln College music course has a very high acceptance rate into music colleges such as BIMM, Goldsmiths, and Leeds College of Music and Production.

During the course, you’ll:

  • Learn about the history of popular music
  • Learn about the music industry
  • Learn about music theory
  • Learn about music production
  • Be encouraged to compose and perform in genres of your choosing
  • Be taught by experienced music professionals who are all involved with the music industry at large such as producers, performers, composers, and session musicians
