Will I have to pay fees?

Support For Students Aged 19+

Lincoln College Fee Remission Policy offers means tested and non-means tested help with course fees for qualifications up to and including Level 2 and for some students aged 19+ studying a first Full Level 3

We also offer the Advanced Learner Loan, which is non-means tested help with course fees for Level 3, 4, 5 and 6 Further Education funded courses. Our Learner Support Fund offers means tested help with course related costs such as travel to college, uniform, equipment, UCAS application fee and travel to Higher Education interviews. We offer help with the cost of Ofsted registered childcare through the Care To Learn scheme for students aged under 20 (non means tested) and our 20+ Childcare Support Fund (means tested). We can also provide assistance through the Free College Meals scheme. Students, or their parents, must be in receipt of a qualifying means tested benefit and either aged 19 to 24 and have a current Education and Health Care Plan, or be aged 19 and continuing exactly the same programme that they started before they turned 19. More information about this Course


Introduction

Do you want to learn about Customer Service and Enterprise? Maybe you’d like to work in a shop or even run your own business. If so, this course is ideal for you.

You will be working towards a vocational AIM Award Diploma in Skills for Working in Business, Administration and Customer Service Industries course at Entry Three or Level One.

You will have the chance to run your own pop-up shop on the college campus, selling a variety of high-quality products. You’ll gain practical skills in customer service, stock control, market research, health and safety, and marketing, along with routine shop tasks such as using the till, pricing and displaying goods.

You will develop both teamwork and independence skills, grow in confidence and self-esteem, and make a positive contribution to the development of the pop-up shop and to the college community. You will develop and run your own enterprise products and business.

All courses include English and Maths, learners will follow accredited Functional Skills qualifications, as well as Continuing Personal/Professional Development, tutorials, enrichment and enterprise projects and a work experience placement.

During this course, you’ll learn:

  • Choosing and ordering products to stock in the shop
  • Receiving and checking off deliveries
  • Costing and pricing products
  • Displaying products
  • Producing signage and marketing resources
  • Taking and delivering orders
  • Storing stock correctly and safely
  • Completing till transactions
  • Recording sales
  • Counting the float, cashing up and keeping accounts
  • Cleaning and tidying the shop
  • Setting up and running enterprises – producing own products, marketing and selling


Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements needed. However, you should have a desire to develop your employability skills, have a strong interest in customer service and enterprise and have a willingness to learn.



Assessment and Progression

Assessment: Progress is assessed by observation of practical and personal skills and a written portfolio of evidence.

Progression: If you are starting at Entry Three, you will then have the opportunity to progress onto Level One for a second year of the course.

Fees listed are for those aged 19 years and over only. Fees are subject to change. Support for fees may be available, such as fee remission or the Advanced Learner Loan.

What You Will Need To Bring

You’ll need the following stationery items: A pencil case with a black pen, pencil, ruler, eraser, pencil sharpener, A4 folder, A4 lined notepad, A4 punched pockets, and file dividers.

You’ll also need to wear smart casual clothing, appropriate for a shop-working environment.
