Will I have to pay fees?

Support For Students Aged 19+

Lincoln College Fee Remission Policy offers means tested and non-means tested help with course fees for qualifications up to and including Level 2 and for some students aged 19+ studying a first Full Level 3

We also offer the Advanced Learner Loan, which is non-means tested help with course fees for Level 3, 4, 5 and 6 Further Education funded courses. Our Learner Support Fund offers means tested help with course related costs such as travel to college, uniform, equipment, UCAS application fee and travel to Higher Education interviews. We offer help with the cost of Ofsted registered childcare through the Care To Learn scheme for students aged under 20 (non means tested) and our 20+ Childcare Support Fund (means tested). We can also provide assistance through the Free College Meals scheme. Students, or their parents, must be in receipt of a qualifying means tested benefit and either aged 19 to 24 and have a current Education and Health Care Plan, or be aged 19 and continuing exactly the same programme that they started before they turned 19. Introduction

Do you have a passion for all things hair and beauty? Maybe you enjoy styling your own hair and trying out different make-up looks and perhaps putting the results on social media. If you want to turn that into a career, this is your perfect starting point.

You will learn all about hair and make-up in relation to the media industry. From working in television and theatre to face-painting and photographic work. This course has been designed to develop your creative skills in hairdressing and media make-up as well as the knowledge and confidence to progress within this exciting industry. It is also a great foundation for further study.

During this course, you’ll learn:

  • Applying makeup
  • Body art design
  • The art of photographic makeup
  • Shape and colour eyebrows
  • Creating an image based on a theme in the hair and beauty industry
  • Instruction on makeup application
  • The art of dressing hair
  • Health and safety in the salon


Entry Requirements

You’ll need four GCSEs including English Language and Science (minimum grade Four/C or equivalent). You’ll also need to have achieved GCSE Maths and/or English.

You’ll be asked to attend an interview/welcome day and provide a reference (from an employer or recent school/college report).

Those progressing from Level One Beauty Therapy or Hairdressing may be accepted if they have achieved GCSEs in English and Maths and have a satisfactory reference from their existing Personal Tutor.



Assessment and Progression

Assessment is a combination of theory and practical assessments with online tests throughout the year.

Successful completion of the Level Two programme may lead to a Level Three qualification in Professional Make-up Artistry or Hairdressing. You would also have access to a wide range of roles within the industry.

What You Will Need To Bring

You’ll need a uniform and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and a kit from our preferred supplier - which will include your course textbook. You will need general stationery equipment and access to the internet; PCs are available on campus.
