Will I have to pay fees?
Support For Students Aged 19+
Lincoln College Fee Remission Policy offers means tested and non-means tested help with course fees for qualifications up to and including Level 2 and for some students aged 19+ studying a first Full Level 3
We also offer the Advanced Learner Loan, which is non-means tested help with course fees for Level 3, 4, 5 and 6 Further Education funded courses. Our Learner Support Fund offers means tested help with course related costs such as travel to college, uniform, equipment, UCAS application fee and travel to Higher Education interviews. We offer help with the cost of Ofsted registered childcare through the Care To Learn scheme for students aged under 20 (non means tested) and our 20+ Childcare Support Fund (means tested). We can also provide assistance through the Free College Meals scheme. Students, or their parents, must be in receipt of a qualifying means tested benefit and either aged 19 to 24 and have a current Education and Health Care Plan, or be aged 19 and continuing exactly the same programme that they started before they turned 19. More information about this Course
Introduction
Do you consider yourself to be a protective person? Are you calm and
collected in stressful or dangerous situations? Maybe you’ve thought of a career
in the Armed Forces or emergency services. If so, this course may be for
you.
If you want to pursue a career in public services then this is an excellent
place to start. This course will provide you with the underpinning skills and
knowledge to develop your skills and understanding of public services, giving
you a variety of opportunities.
Study is both practical and theoretical.
During this course, you’ll study:
Public Service Skills and Support for the Community
Employment in Uniformed Public Services
Health and Fitness for Entry into the Uniformed Public Services
Activities and Teamwork for the Public Services
Expedition and Land Navigation Skills

Entry Requirements
You’ll need four GCSEs at Grade Three and above or equivalent, which include
English Language and Maths. You’ll be encouraged to attend a taster day and may
be required to provide a reference (from an employer or recent school/college
report)
You’ll also need to demonstrate an ability to cope with a programme of
physical activity.

Assessment and Progression
Assessment: Assessment is a combination of coursework, presentations and
practical tests/observations and building up a portfolio of evidence.
Progression: Successful completion of this course could allow you to progress
to a Level Three Protective Services programme or into a career in the Public
Services e.g. Royal Navy, Royal Marines, The Army, Royal Air Force, Ambulance
Service, Police Service, Prison Service, Customs and Exercise,
Coastguards.

change. Support for fees may be available, such as fee remission or the Advanced
Learner Loan.

What You Will Need To Bring
You’ll need an indoor practical kit with an option to purchase from our
preferred supplier. You may also need an outdoor/residential kit for Skills for
Outdoor Activities experiences.
You’ll also need general stationery equipment and access to the internet; PCs
are available on campus.
