Support For Students Aged 19+
Lincoln College Fee Remission Policy offers means tested and non-means tested help with course fees for qualifications up to and including Level 2 and for some students aged 19+ studying a first Full Level 3
We also offer the Advanced Learner Loan, which is non-means tested help with course fees for Level 3, 4, 5 and 6 Further Education funded courses. Our Learner Support Fund offers means tested help with course related costs such as travel to college, uniform, equipment, UCAS application fee and travel to Higher Education interviews. We offer help with the cost of Ofsted registered childcare through the Care To Learn scheme for students aged under 20 (non means tested) and our 20+ Childcare Support Fund (means tested). We can also provide assistance through the Free College Meals scheme. Students, or their parents, must be in receipt of a qualifying means tested benefit and either aged 19 to 24 and have a current Education and Health Care Plan, or be aged 19 and continuing exactly the same programme that they started before they turned 19. More information about this Course
Introduction
Do you love dancing? Have a passion for performing? Are you looking to turn
these into becoming a professional dancer? Then this course is an excellent
place to start.
This course will give you the skills and knowledge to develop a range of
dance techniques. You will gain practical experience in different types of
performance and build up your confidence and stamina as a dancer, as you work
through a series of practical projects. You will take part in several
performances during the year, keeping a reflective journal of your progress.
You’ll also attend workshops with visiting professionals and learn from
various trips to West End and touring professional shows. Your final major
production will be staged at a public theatre venue.
Certification is awarded by the prestigious UAL Awarding Body, widely
regarded as the best university for the Creative Arts in Europe. You will be
based in our own dedicated performance space which has a 180 seater theatre,
dressing rooms, dance studios, rehearsal rooms, MAC suite, and technical theatre
workshop.
During this course, you’ll learn:
- Rehearsal techniques
- Choreographing your own work
- The history of the dance industry
- Developing core strength and stamina to prevent injuries
- Solo and ensemble pieces
- Audition techniques
- Combining singing with dance
- Aspects of preparing a production

Entry Requirements
You’ll need four GCSEs including English Language and Maths at a minimum
grade Four or a merit at Level Two in a related subject. You’ll also need to
produce a creative portfolio of audio/visual work with appropriate work
experience.
You’re required to work with our choreographers for a couple of hours and
follow an audtion piece.
We also ask that you send a short statement that includes:
- Why you are passionate about dancing?
- Why you would like to study dance with us here at Lincoln College?
- What are your future ambitions?
- What is your current/previous training in dance?

Assessment and Progression
Assessment: There’s no exam. Coursework is all internally assessed through a
combination of interim and formal assessments at the end of each project. The
final project is graded pass, merit, or distinction. The qualification is
equivalent to achieving three A levels.
Progression: Upon successful completion, you will be able to seek employment
within the dance industry or progress onto Dance Schools or Higher
Education.

Fees listed are for those aged 19 years and over only. Fees are subject to
change. Support for fees may be available, such as fee remission or the Advanced
Learner Loan.

What You Will Need To Bring
You’ll need to buy a set of our branded Lincoln College uniform. An initial
fee is payable at enrolment as your contribution towards the compulsory trips on
the course. You’ll also need general stationery equipment, including a memory
stick/pen drive and access to the Internet. PCs are available on
campus.
