This two-year Level 3 Extended Diploma course is tailored specifically to
provide hands-on practical experience of managing and coordinating events on
small or large scale. It includes opportunities to work on a number of internal
and external events such as exhibitions, conferences, awards evenings, gigs,
community events, festivals and public shows.
You will have the opportunity to work at a number of locations in the region
on tasks set by clients. You will work closely with caterers, sound and lighting
specialists and learn about business, planning and communication skills as well
as Public Liability, Health and Safety and promotion.
We will help you reflect on your own practice, develop strategies for
improving your skills, prepare for interviews and the job opportunities
available in the events industry.
This qualification (Extended Diploma in Performing and Production Arts) is
awarded by the prestigious UAL Awarding Body, widely regarded as the best
university for the Creative Arts in Europe. It has been designed to improve the
skills needed for any career path and will enable you to demonstrate
adaptability, independence, professionalism, teamwork, reliability, problem
solving and communication.
You will work in a group or around 10 students and your weekly timetable will
be 13 hours.
Working on real events will mean you need to be flexible and
available for external events to maximise your experience on the course. You
should also plan to spend at least 6 hours per week of your own time on course
work.
As well as practical work there will be time to do English and maths GCSE
retakes if you need to.
