Will I have to pay fees?

Support For Students Aged 19+

Lincoln College Fee Remission Policy offers means tested and non-means tested help with course fees for qualifications up to and including Level 2 and for some students aged 19+ studying a first Full Level 3

We also offer the Advanced Learner Loan, which is non-means tested help with course fees for Level 3, 4, 5 and 6 Further Education funded courses. Our Learner Support Fund offers means tested help with course related costs such as travel to college, uniform, equipment, UCAS application fee and travel to Higher Education interviews. We offer help with the cost of Ofsted registered childcare through the Care To Learn scheme for students aged under 20 (non means tested) and our 20+ Childcare Support Fund (means tested). We can also provide assistance through the Free College Meals scheme. Students, or their parents, must be in receipt of a qualifying means tested benefit and either aged 19 to 24 and have a current Education and Health Care Plan, or be aged 19 and continuing exactly the same programme that they started before they turned 19. Introduction
Plumbing is a programme that will provide you with the underpinning skills and knowledge to progress through the levels of plumbing, whilst exploring theoretically and practically the following topics at an appropriate level to begin. This programme will also offer you support, preparing you for the construction industry. Successful completion of the Level 1 Diploma could lead onto the Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing. Potential careers include working for a plumbing company or becoming self-employed. During the course, you will study: Safe Working Practices in Building Services Engineering; Communicating with Others within Building Services Engineering; Environmental Protection Methods; Fundamental Scientific Principles; Copper Pipe Fabrication Work for Domestic Plumbing Systems; Low Carbon Steel Pipe Fabrication Work for Domestic Plumbing Systems; Plastic Pipe Fabrication Work for Domestic Plumbing Systems; Domestic Plumbing Systems and Techniques for Installing and Securing Plumbing Pipework

Entry Requirements
You will need GCSE’s in Mathematics, English and Science (minimum Grade 3 or equivalent). You will also be required to pass a trade test as-well as a literacy and numeracy test. You will be required to attend an interview and provide a reference (from an employer or recent school/college report).

Assessment and Progression
Assessment is a combination of practical tests and written examinations.

What You Will Need To Bring
You will require workwear and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) from our preferred supplier; you will also need a copy of course textbook: 'Plumbing Candidate Handbook: NVQ/SVQ Level 2 Plumbing NVQ 2010' ISBN-: 9780435031312. You will need general stationery equipment and access to the internet; PC’s are available on-campus.
